55 days, Playing bait by Sarang Ashokan

Reading the article titled "Castaway" from the  Times of India, a lot of things passed through my mind which I can only filter with a pen. I surely learned a few things that I will keep in mind for the rest of my life.

Taking a glimpse of what Desappan and his crew had gone through, the first thing I realised was off the risk present in every job and the situations where a person would have to stare death in the eye and say "not yet", with all the strength.

Another important point is the ability to improvise, even when it seems that we have lost everything. Just like Babu, whose courage and strength, Desappan spoke highly of is an example of someone who gets upto the challengeand give people hope.

Optimism is something else, it is clear from how Babu, one man among a team of nine changed the minds of the other eight men. And another important thing was improvisation, to use everything one has, just like how the fishermen had to use their resources to turn a setback to their advantage in facing such a challenge. The story was heartbreaking, yet inspiring, by how they managed to make it out and the passing of Babu, who was courageous and have hope to his crew, and the efforts of the all fishermen, especially Raghu and Desappan. It's surprising, as I think that this story is not fiction, and has played a big role in reminding myself that whatever challenge we face, if there is hope, there is always a way out.
