An extra eye, an extra ear and an extra heart!

It was something that stirred up a bunch of realizations when I watched the Ted talk of Joseph Annamkutty Jose. He is a reputed RJ as well as a public speaker and more beyond, he’s a person who is exceptionally adept in stimulating the mind and heart of people through his spellbinding words. Each and every second of his discourse was flourished with unique ideas and influential stories.

“An extra eye, an extra ear and an extra heart” revolves upon the very miniscule or unnoticed events that can change the whole course of action in one’s life. Joseph was the only student in his entire institution to get failed in the internal examination. But, when his father discerned the unexpressed sorrow behind his fabricated smile, he tried to furnish confidence and make him much stronger by these words; “It is not about how much you fail in your life, instead it is about how much you rise up from those failures.” This manifested a different perspective to take all failures as a challenge and reinvigorate himself to go ahead. Later, he turned out to be the ‘Best Outgoing Student’ of his college bagging an honour from all his teachers and friends.

His second story is an incident that transpired when he was ten years old. At one side, when a teacher frequently complained about the distractions that Joseph made in the class, at the other side, another teacher was able to spot his unseen ability to entertain others and induce a smile in the faces around him. Ever since then, that teacher is one of the greatest inspirations in his life that let him quote these beautiful words- “A good teacher teaches, a better teacher explains, and the best teacher inspires.”

And the last one is about break ups. Everyone get two choices during each phase of their life. One, to get desperate of all scrapes around them and surrender in front of difficulties. Or else, take each break up as a wake-up call to rejuvenate the future. If we’re endeavouring the second path, then life will whirl into a more sterling experience.

To sum up, the talk is a real life portrait of fresh visions. His transition from a common boy who was continuously mocked about his talkative nature and peculiar sound, to a well reputed orator who could even conquer the Tedx platform, is a result of uncompromising perseverance and determination. And more beyond, the key factor that stabilized his growth, was a few people who gave him a better glance to look the world more transparently, who lend their ears to revive the burdens he had and hear with a better hearkening, and those who gifted a blissful heart that touched the deepest core inside to feel with a better sensation.
