The Quest of Sudarshan towards the world of Infinity - Nandanalakshmi M

ECG Sudarshan is one of the most eminent and prolific personalities from God's own country, who contributed unparalleled discoveries in the boundless world of physics. The interview "Thus Spoke Sudarshan" is a powerful rendition of his passion and crave towards scientific enquires. He believed in the immeasurable latitude of science, which ranges from the boiling point of our bed coffee to the linear speed of a fan's regulator. More than being a physicist,  Sudarshan believed in enabling the potential of one's life by looking it through the prism of science.  He shares his interest from childhood towards the scope of mathematical formulas and equations. Even when his companions considered mathematics as an arduous burden, he was simply able to solve even the most complicated equations within just a few seconds. Sudarshan considers that his passion towards science was one big reason for him to plump for a career in Madras Christian College. His experience with Tata

Ennackal Chandy George Sudarshan (1931–2018) was an eminent scientist and theoretical physicist from Kerala. His contributions in physics range from formulating fundamental ideas in particle physics to understanding the quantum nature of light. Born in Pallam, Kottayam, he had his basic education in Kerala. Right from the school days, he showed exceptional skills in mathematics and physics. He pursued his college education at CMS and Madras Christian College which gifted him some really good science teachers. Physics gradually became his way to make sense of the world around. Later he joined Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as a fresh PhD student. At TIFR, he worked for a brief period with Homi Bhabha, who is known as ‘the father of Indian nuclear programme’. When he was at TIFR, he was scouted out by Robert Eugene Marshak, a distinguished nuclear physicist, who invited him to join Rochester for pursuing a PhD. Upon completion of your PhD, he was given a fellowship to join Harva

     E. C. G Sudarshan was the India’s best-kenned Indian-American theoretical physicist. Sudarshan has been credited with numerous contributions to the field of theoretical physics, including Glauber–Sudarshan P representation, V-A theory, tachyons, quantum Zeno effect, open quantum system and Lindblad equation, spin–statistics theorem, non-invariance groups, positive maps of density matrices, and quantum computation.       Ennackal Chandy George Sudarshan was born in Pallom, Kottayam. His father was a Revenue Supervisor for the Kerala Goverment Service. His mother was a scholastic edifier. Nobody in his family had a science background. He was intrigued with mathematics. He understood maths even without getting it explicated. His fellow students, very often, endeavored to test his cognizance by asking him to solve maths quandaries. He was impressed by the duration of a simple pendulum. He verbally expresses all these occured so naturally and he did it all without competition, for none

Biography of ECG Sudarshan- Nayantara B Terese

E.C.G. Sudarshan, the brilliant scientist from Kerala, was born in Kottayam in 1931 to a regular Catholic household. His contributions to tachyons and other physics foundations are outstanding. Being naturally exposed to a culture that places a high priority on education was typically beneficial. He was able to focus on the areas that aroused his attention when he went to school. Material science gradually become his method of gaining a better understanding of his surroundings. He preferred the energy of taking a gander at the world through the crystal of science, and he could do it for eternity. At the point when he was in Madras Christian School, he had a few excellent educators, and their training roused him to find out additional. While he was doing his lords at TIFR, he had been alloted to the test inestimable beam bunch that examined emulsion tracks. The work included recognizing the emulsion tracks of infinite beams with extraordinary accuracy. He had extraordinary trouble doing

Jesse Owens' staggering tally of four medals at the 1936 Olympics was a fitting response to Hitler and shattered his idea of using the event for the Nazi regime. While Owens’ feat was unique, he might have lost one of his gold medals had it not been for the help from an unlikely ally – German long jumper Luz Long. When Owens was struggling to qualify the trial round for a long jump event, Long compelled him to give his best and shared the right advices to excel the jump. Though Long was competing in the same event as an official representative of Hitler himself, he showed no fear in befriending Owens. In the finals, Jesse won his gold medal but the friendship he formed with Long was his greatest Olympic prize.  Luz Long's conduct was the defining moment in the 1936 Olympics. I n the many years that followed and probably for many more years to come, he will definitely be remembered as the person who embodied the Olympic spirit. Hence, this tale of humanity will remain glorious i

Jesse Owens, write this story to share his Olympic experience and the friendship he won. He has achieved what no other Olympian before him had accomplished. It was the time when the patriotic feeling was at its top in Germany. He denied accepting that any ‘Black’ could ever win the race or be successful "My Greatest Olympic Prize” deals with the friendship of Owens and Luz Long. Another important thing that has been emphasized is that one should not loose temper or display anger even at the time of adversity. To remain cool and calm is the greatest key to success. Anger only leads to failure and this happened with Jesse Owens also when he committed fowls. Apart from this one must give ears to opponents also which Owens did. He was least bothered about German’s hostile feelings towards him and listened to Luz Long’s advice. Yeits head high when Owens failed twice in the qualifying jumps but soon it was overcomes frustration did raise after talking to Luz Long.

Let your Human Side Shine. - By Sidharth G Kumar

Human beings have long shown a tendency to function more efficiently when the promise of an external reward is on the table. But the question is should the satisfaction and joy of achieving a coveted reward be the only thing that matters to a person? Or is there something more satisfying and morally elevating thing out there? The story ‘My Greatest Olympic Prize’ and the incident between Ivan Fernandez and Abel Mutai certainly points to the latter. The German Olympic athlete Luz Long jeopardized his chance at winning an Olympic Gold medal by giving some extremely useful pointers to eventual winner and lifelong friend Jesse Owens, which instilled in him a sense of confidence and belief, which helped him push through, break the barrier and win the prize. Luz did this while being under the direct observation of Hitler, and could have endangered his own life at the hands of the fascist ruler. Luz Long didn’t bother about his own safety nor did he get caught up in the promise of glory an

It was a moment that the patriotic sentiments were at the top of Germany. Another important thing was emphasized is that you should not lose your patience or illegal responsibility. At the time of adversity. It is the best key to fresh and settled success. Ira guided only a failure, and this happened with a bird with Jesse Owens and birds were fucked. Other than that, you should win the opponent as well as Owens. I was not disturbed in German's hostile emotions and heard a long light hint. The head appears high when Owens fails twice with a jump jump, but he immediately talked to a long light and he ran out frustrated frustration. It is said that being surrounded by positive people

Have you ever wondered about the magic behind some unforeseen acts of kindness by certain unexpected people? We all might have that one person in our life who has kept aside his own needs and lent us a helping hand at the moment of utmost necessity and despair. 'My Greatest Olympic Prize', an autobiographical sketch by Jesse Owens, the great American athlete throws light into such an act of kindness by Luz Long, who was his fellow competitor at the Berlin Olympics, 1936.    With the guidance and help of Luz Long, Jesse Owens was able to win the gold medal at the broad jump. Luz Long, the German athlete who was covered under the wraps by Hitler helped Jesse Owens, who was a black man by trashing all the racial barriers put up by the so-called superior races. He sincerely appreciated Owens in his victory, right in front of Hitler without any dismay and anguish. He proved to the world that the gratification of winning is associated with one's own potential and talent, not with

Triumph with talent , excel with effort-Gouri R

What is competence?  It's not just the ability to tackle your opponent and win but rather building up confidence in them to fight. It is the duty of a true companion to ebb their opponents fear for failure and make them realise that they can compete until they  decide to give up. The nationality, gender or race of a person never matters in front of his /her ethos to triumph the unjustifiable social customs and treatments.  In his autobiography "My Greatest Olympic prize" Jesse Owens states these assumptions as real truths by unleashing his experience during the time of Berlin Olympics ,1936.The Olympics was truly meant for the exposure of Aryan supremacy under the guidance of Adolf Hitler. He proclaimed the winners will be of his race ,thus provoking Jesse Owens to prove the fact that what matters in competition is talent. But however fear always exist everywhere and it started carving out his confidence too. He was even more frightened with the performance of his  Aryan

The sporting spirit is another name of sportsmanship. It means the fair, honest, earnest and generous way in which a game is played. The best players all over the world play the game with the sporting spirit. In the play field sportsmanship is needed most. The law of game requires that we should play in a fair manner. We must not take an undue advantage of our opponents; nor should we try to deceive them. The essay is set in the background of the Berlin Olympics in 1936. It provides an autobiographical insight by Jesse Owens of his experience during the Olympics that year. He met a German athlete Luz Long with whom he formed a bond of friendship even though they were rivals. Luz Long helped Jesse Owens to clear the jump trials. True friendship and true sportsmanship are the themes of this essay. Hitler believed in the theory of Aryan supremacy. According to him, the Germans were the purest stock of Aryans and were meant to be the purest race in all of humanity and Owens wanted to prove

Spot It Through a Kalon Kaleidoscope... by Nandanalakshmi M

Some moments are intensely special because it proliferate happiness and pride in your veins and senses...Six months before, I too felt the same sense of elation when we started preparing for RDC, which is probably a world of survival of the fittest! We never knew that it would be as much engaging and extensive as it really seemed in practice. There were tough schedules, rough patches and extremely difficult physical exertions, but still everyone had the same dream and that was to make a step towards the biggest day of our nation...Afterwards, time flew like hailstorm which left boundless experiences and evocations in progress. Each day went on with new hopes, aspirations and even more difficult roads to cross. But, that was a time when I discovered that each and every competition actually has another dimension which let a man to delve deep into the iridescence of real spirit.  I saw some strange faces without covetous or hatred thoughts, without pretentious eyes, even in such a plat

When the world says give up,  hope whispers......try it one more time. We tend to believe that in this too often dim world, love and hope ceased to exist making it even much dull. Society always Lee's at us and forms a cloud over our head which drains away our morale. But there is always a someone who bring hope to the tormented mind and stimulate them to persuade their goal. Here Luz Long had lay hold of a beam of light within him which he shone on Jessie Owens when he tripped on his path. With a smile of reassurance he wiped out all of the tension that was there between him and Owens. More than a fierce opponent, he acted as a friendly fellow competitor and drove him out of the crisis he was facing at that moment.                       When we possess a ray of hope within ourselves, it's light penetrates the darkness that engulfs us. For this we need to fill our inner self with these qualities because it is impossible to pour from an empty cup. Self-empo

A Beacon of Hope - Devika Saju

What defines life as comely? Is it prosperity? Is it accomplishments? Albeit those are paramount in our lives, there are certain things which are worth more than it. Achievements and prosperity will only bring us a short-term jubilance, but love and allegiance will last longer, giving us a long-term sense of fulfillment. Having a positive posture to competitions is more paramount than victoriously triumphing. In 1936, Adolf Hitler considered the Olympics as a chance to demonstrate Aryan preponderation. Jesse Owens, an African American athlete found that the situation was arduous. Owens’ focus had shifted after considering Luz Long. He became exasperated and fouled on his first and second jump in trials. Luz Long understood that Owens was making mistake. He verbalized with Owens and relaxed him. Soon, they became friends. Long gave him an exhortation and that led him to be a triumpher in the long jump. He prehended four medals. Likewise, is the veracity exhibited by the long-distance ru

Untouched by Unrighteous - Liya Bobby

The Berlin Olympics of 1936 were a masterminded plan by Adolf Hitler to showcase and reaffirm his ideology of racial supremacy, which viewed the Aryan race as a distinct and superior racial group entitled to rule the rest of humanity. The Aryan supremacist ideology and German nationalism heightened to their peak of influence in Nazi Germany. But the same Berlin Olympics is now remembered as the summer when Jesse Owens, an American track and field athlete, crushed Hitler's racist supremacy. Jesse Owens was an African American track and field athlete who specialized in sprints and long jump. His achievement at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany, by winning four gold medals: 100 meters, long jump, 200 meters, and 4 x 100-meter relay brought him international recognition and fame as a four-time gold medallist. Being a black man, he never doubted or judged his ability and was able to become the most successful athlete at the games, as he single-handedly crushed Hitler's myt

Emerging Colours of Luz - Nayantara B Terese

In Spanish, the word "luz" means "light."  And we could truly believe that he was a person who brought light into Jessie Owens's life. When a ray of light passes through a prism it creates multicolored light. In a simple way,  it causes rainbow. A rainbow symbolizes hope. And we could differentiate each of the different colors of hope. Just like that, here in Owens's experience  we could shed lights on different aspects such as brotherhood,  importance of good competition,  support others and so on.Even though these add to the beauty of the incident, I only want to emphasise the focal point. May be this seems meaningless or rubbish. But to me it is the incident ray which find one's Luz Long and to reflect the colorful lights. And that incident ray is self-love.                   There are so many people who act like Luz Long in their day-to-day lives. It's hard to narrate every story of our Luz Longs, so I would like to share the ideas that strike me

The Spirit of True Championship by Aishwarya Jijikumar

In this contemporary world the term champion is open to many meanings and interpretations but everyone perceives it to be being the first in everything. The real sense of championship lies in upholding and supporting each other regardless of their state and stature. The story “My Great Olympic Prize” and the video (about Abel Mutai and Ivan Fernandez)  proves that the crowning achievement of one's ability lies in ungrudging selflessness for others. Their story proved to be a ray of hope to the world shattered by inequality, racism and  disparities of such sorts.             In the story “My Great Olympic Prize”, Jesse Owens admits that it is the broad mindedness and companionship of his German rival Luz Long that inspired him to bring out the best within himself. Indeed Owens  regards his undying friendship with Long as his greatest prize rather than his record of winning four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The incident that happened during  a racing event at Burlada Nava
