IN THE DARING SEA by Nandanalakshmi

The life of a few people who strived so hard to hold their breathe in the extensive roaring sea, for about fifty five days - an incident that transpired recently and proliferated in the columns of all national dailies. Just like what happened in Coleridge’s “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”, those nine men were surviving in the Bay of Bengal, even without having anything to satisfy their hunger or thirst. As days passed, there was no bit of food left, and again to add misfortunes upon misfortunes, they were even forced to imbibe the salty sea water. At last, after enormous days of fear and helplessness, the transitions converged to take their boat to an unknown land, where they used to sustain with the help of the tender hearted natives of Myanmar.

This incident delineates the victory of many moral values. One ,the greatest element of togetherness which let those hearts to join their hands even in struggles and hazards. Even the weak became stronger when they were united. And, they could share the most scarce resources to make each other relaxed and serene, and disseminate the purity of hope amidst of pains. Then, how compassion showcased its sanctity when the people of Myanmar rescued them and resolved their necessities. More beyond, the sacrifice of one among them to save his companions, where bravery transforms an unknown man to a daring hero. Together, these are unwinding the spirit of being with others and enriching tranquility in the next heart.

“Yes, alone we can do so little, but together we can do much.”
