Write-up about an article in today’s Times of India - By Fathima Heena Hasmi

Today, I came across an article in ‘Times of India’ which told the story of nine fishermen from Chennai adrift in the Bay of Bengal for 55 days. The article tells us how one among them went missing and how they survived in the Bay of Bengal for such a long period of time. Even being in such a terrible situation, they didn’t lose their hope. They kept telling themselves that “someone will find us. We have to keep the belief that we will go home”. They retained their life by eating dried fish and fishes boiled in salt water. They even faced situations which they run out of water and had to survive without a single pellet. After the life and death struggle long 55 days, they reached the hills of Myanmar and they had to point at their stomachs to show they were hungry. Then, the Navy of the new county was informed and the men were brought on shore. After reading the whole article, I felt so proud of that men. I strongly believe that it’s their optimism and bravery that acted as their saviour. There is nothing in this world that can blow out ignited mind of human!
