Spot It Through a Kalon Kaleidoscope... by Nandanalakshmi M

Some moments are intensely special because it proliferate happiness and pride in your veins and senses...Six months before, I too felt the same sense of elation when we started preparing for RDC, which is probably a world of survival of the fittest! We never knew that it would be as much engaging and extensive as it really seemed in practice. There were tough schedules, rough patches and extremely difficult physical exertions, but still everyone had the same dream and that was to make a step towards the biggest day of our nation...Afterwards, time flew like hailstorm which left boundless experiences and evocations in progress. Each day went on with new hopes, aspirations and even more difficult roads to cross. But, that was a time when I discovered that each and every competition actually has another dimension which let a man to delve deep into the iridescence of real spirit.

I saw some strange faces without covetous or hatred thoughts, without pretentious eyes, even in such a platform of oppositions..Still, I can't stop admiring those two young faces who were discussing the mudras and composition of Kadhakali at the last moment, even when they were sure that only one of out of them will get the final chance. I was amazed to see two cadets competing for the same event, with the same spirit to share topics and goals with each other, and suggesting tips for improving the skills of the person standing beside! I was literally dumbstruck when I saw people who could actually give a space for his/her companion to accomplish their dreams, that converts happiness of a man to joy of togetherness. I couldn't control my tears when those who lost the chance applauded for the ones who won, without making any fake fabrications on their face or having even the slightest form of grudge for what they missed! Even when they knew that years of perseverance and ambitions are drowning in a moment, they still used to seek pleasure by pleasing the people around them. That was a time when I saw people as miracles before my eyes..

The story of Jesse Owens and Luz Long is also a reflection of the same emotion. Everyone will yearn for a "Luz Long" as life moves on. Though Owens and Luz Long were opponents, they considered themselves to be better humans rather than better competitors or better athletes. They shared thoughts, and made each other comfortable despite the fact that they're going to compete the next day. What they did is a remark that the real race is to chase our dreams, and not to defeat the next one's hopes. Because we need people like Luz Long to lend a helping hand, and to instil an odd source of courage and aura that let us move forth during hardships..We need people like him to remind that winning a heart is more divine than winning a medal.

How beautiful will be this whole world if people wisely uses their sense to exchange moments with splendour and sanctity? The awards and rewards that we get after races will get corroded once, but those lifelong friendships which we earn through reconciliation will never get wrapped with dust..

Even though I was unfortunate to furlough at one moment during my RDC days, the present is a moment of enormous delight and honour. Because, more than a competition, it was a lesson- a lesson that sculpts a person to hold the baton of victory in real life. Experiences taught me one thing, which I find extremely worthy- " If we look at competitions through a different kaleidoscope of benevolence, we'll feel that it's more beautiful to see a spring of togetherness, rather than just simply looking at a single flower which is ready to bloom.
